5.1 Demand Cooling Service Procedures
The demand cooling valve injects liquid refrigerant
into the suction manifold to keep the discharge gas
temperature within a safe operating range. Excessive
discharge gas temperature will lead to ring and cylin-
der wear, valve wear and oil coking. Each Intelligent
Store™ Discus® compressor has a temperature
probe in the head to continually monitor the discharge
gas temperature. The injection valve is energized
when the temperature of the probe exceeds the
“Injection Start” temperature. When the probe temper-
ature drops below the “Injection Stop” temperature,
the injection valve closes (is de-energized). Refer to
table 5.2 below for reference temperatures by model.
